An additional $189 million was approved for debris removal and reimbursement.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) released a report on Tuesday documenting the distribution of over $190 million to North Carolina survivors of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The funding was used to relocate displaced families into hotels and open 21 disaster recovery centers in the state.
North Carolina was the state hit hardest by the two hurricanes. The state government has verified 101 deaths due to Helene, with the highest death count of 43 in Buncombe County.
Including this funding, the administration has approved over $1.2 billion in direct assistance to hurricane survivors across the eastern states. The White House approved an additional $1.1 billion for local debris removal and the addition of emergency protective measures for the future.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Administrator Criswell and FEMA officials as they continue to support recovery efforts.
- For the governors and mayors of the impacted states and regions as they seek to repair and rebuild.
- For God’s provision for those who lost everything, including family members, in the hurricanes.
